Beginners Guide to Andar Bahar

Andar Bahar real cash game is the most popular card game in India. The rules are fairly easy to learn and because of that, it is immensely popular across all demographics. Whether they may be land-based casinos or an online casino, Andar Bahar is a fan favorite in India.

Here, in this article, we will discuss everything you need to know about Andar Bahar if you are willing to start playing it. The rules are the same for land and online casinos, but here, we will mainly focus on online Andar Bahar.

A Brief Introduction

Let us start with a nice little introduction to the game before we move forward with all the details.

Andar Bahar is also known as Katti in India. It is the most popular game in India with Teen-Patti coming as a close second.

Since the game is incredibly easy to learn, it is family-friendly. Therefore, in the holidays when the families finally get together, it is the go-to game for most Indian families after they had their lunch/dinner. People reminisce about the good time and catch up with each other while playing Andar Bahar. It won’t be an overstatement to say that Indians have an emotional connection with Andar Bahar.

The Rules

As you may have heard many times and also a couple of times already in this article, Andar Bahar rules are very easy.

For our English speakers, “Andar” is a Hindi word that means “inside” and “Bahar” is also a Hindi word which means, you guessed it, “outside.”

Here are a couple of things you need to know.

  1. Andar is the slot on the left side of the player
  2. Bahar is the slot on the right side of the player.
  3. Joker is the main card which the dealer deals with in the beginning.

How does a round complete?

Okay, let’s take it from the beginning to make sure we are all on the same page. We have a slot on the left called Andar and a slot on the right called the Bahar.

The dealer now deals the joker card and puts it in the middle of two slots.

This is the time when the players make the bet. They make bets either on the Andar side or Bahar Side.

After all the bets are done, the dealer stops any more bets and starts dealing one card for both slots till one of them gets the card with the same value as the master card. (if the master card is an 8, your side needs 8 first to win)

Now, whichever slot, Andar or Bahar gets the card with the same value as the master card first, that slot wins. As a result, players that bet on the slot win.

It’s pretty standard and simple, isn’t it?

The Payout

In most online casinos, the Andar side has payout odds of 1.900:1, and the Bahar side has payout odds of 2:1.

Andar has slightly less payout than Bahar because the dealer starts dealing from the Andar side first. So, the Andar side has a slight edge over the Bahar side. As a result, casinos pay you just a little less when you bet on the Andar side and win.

Side Bets

The bet and payout we discussed above are what is known as the Main bet. Along with the main bet, you can find side bets in different online casinos hosting Andar Bahar.

The side bets indeed make the game more interesting. You can win big money if your bet pays out.

However, for beginners, it is not generally recommended. Once you know what you are doing, there are articles you can read on the internet that will tell you about the Andar Bahar side bets.

For now, you should stay clear of side bets.

Types of Andar Bahar

There are mainly two types of Andar Bahar found in online casinos.

One is the live version, where a real-life dealer deals the card and another is the offline version where you are dealt cards by the computer.

Both are equally fun, but be cautious when you are playing the live dealer. It is fast-paced. So, make sure you have figured out the game before jumping in.
